Brigham Young University (BYU) is a large research university in Provo, Utah. BYU is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is religiously, politically, and culturally conservative. Students agree to adhere to an honor code, and core requirements include five religion courses. BYU has excellent choirs and other performing groups, and numerous study abroad and foreign language offerings.
Affordability: BYU has exceptionally low tuition, reflected in its low net price ($13,432). They offer need- and merit-based aid. Most students do not take out student loans. According to NCES data, 10% of freshman borrowed an average of $5,687 in 2020-21. BYU is especially affordable for higher-income families.
