Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is an elite liberal arts college in southern California. CMC is in a consortium with Pomona, Pitzer, Scripps, and Harvey Mudd. These colleges have adjoining campuses, and students enrolled in one can take courses at the others. 


Affordability: CMC has a relatively low average net price ($21,663). Most of their financial aid is need-based, but they do offer some merit aid. According to NCES data, in 2020-21, 47% of freshman received institutional grants or loans averaging $39,643 and 29% of freshman borrowed an average of $8,065. CMC is among the more affordable schools for students with a household income below $30,000.
