Hollins University is a small, women's liberal arts college in Roanoke, Virgina. Hollins promotes study abroad, internships, writing, leadership, and tradition. One tradition is Tinker Day, on which costumed students and faculty hike Tinker Mountain for a picnic. 


Affordability: Hollins has a fairly low overall net price ($23,825). According to NCES data, 100% of freshman were awarded, on average, $29,325 in college grants and scholarships for the 2020-21 school year. However, most students take out student loans (62% of freshman borrowed an average of $6,500 in 2020-21). Hollins is most affordable for higher-income families.
