Johns Hopkins University is an elite research university in Baltimore, Maryland. Johns Hopkins (JHU) excels in STEM programs, but is also strong in the social sciences, music performance, and creative writing. Note the JHU has far more graduate than undergraduate students.


Affordability: JHU meets 100% of demonstrated need without student loans. Theoretically, JHU is affordable for any student admitted. They are one of the few no-loan schools that also offers merit aid. According to NCES data, most students do not take out loans (12% of freshman borrowed an average of $9,874 in 2020-21).
