U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) is a small service academy in Kings Point, New York, that prepares future Merchant Marine officers. Their challenging academic program requires more credit hours than the other four service academies and includes a Sea Year experience.
Affordability: In exchange for serving at least 5 years in the U.S. maritime industry or in one of the Armed Forces, USMMA provides full scholarships (tuition, room, board, uniforms, textbooks) to all students. Additional costs may be covered by financial aid. The average net price for 2020-21 was $4,422 (NCES).
